Amiga Product Notes

  LS120 Drive

Zip Drive

Product: HD3-LS120
Panasonic LS120 floppy/optical 1.4/120MB

Product: HD3-ZIP-IDE
Bare ATAPI/IDE/Zip Drive Internal

The LS120 drive fits onto Eyetech's buffered IDE interface (connected to the IDE controller). The LS120 appears to the system as an ATAPI device.

A distinct advantage of this drive is that you can read, write and format 720Kb and 1.44Mb MSDOS diskettes in the same drive (but not Amiga high density) - removing the need for expensive double density diskette drives and/or controller where a HD floppy capability is required. The LS120 will read and write 120Mb of data to its own disks (roughly 25Mb more per disk than a Zip).

Please note that you cannot boot an Amiga from the LS120 as the software drivers have to be loaded before it is recognised by the A1200.

IDE/ATAPI software is also required - Code: DVR-EZIDE. You will qualify for discount if you buy EZIDE software at the same time as the buffered interface - contact the Sales Office for latest news on current special offers.

If fitting inside a Tower, you will need a standard 40-pin IDE cable (CAB40-3W-60C). For use as an external device you will need a longer cable (CAB40-3W-1M) and you will need to house the device in a metal slim case (CASE-ZIP).

You will need extra power (more than the 23W standard) to run extra devices - please call for advice.

LS120 cartridges are sold individually or as a triple-pack - also available from Eyetech.

The LS120 received an Amiga Format Product Rating of 92%.

The Zip drive is a universal storage format and can be fitted inside the EZ-Tower or as pictured above. The cartridges store 100Mb of data.

You will need Eyetech's buffered interface (connected to the IDE controller). The Zip appears to the system as an ATAPI device.

IDE/ATAPI software is also required - Code: DVR-EZIDE. You will qualify for discount if you buy EZIDE software at the same time as the buffered interface - contact the Sales Office for latest news on current special offers.

Please note that you cannot boot an Amiga from the ATAPI Zip drive as the software drivers have to be loaded before it is recognised by the A1200.

If fitting inside a Tower, you will need a standard 40-pin IDE cable (CAB40-3W-60C).

For use as an external device you will need a longer cable (CAB40-3W-1M) and you will need to house the device in a metal slim case (CASE-ZIP).

Zip cartridges are sold individually or as a triple-pack - also available from Eyetech.

The internal ZIP device received an Amiga Format Product Rating of 91%.
